Our Hog Island Earthquake Bays are grown in the same cool, nutrient-rich waters as our classic Sweetwater Oysters, in Tomales Bay. This skinny, 15-mile-long bay was formed on a submerged portion of the San Andres fault, earning the nickname Earthquake Bay. Like the fault line, our oysters are in a constant state of motion, thus inspiring the name for these new, tasty morsels.

Earthquake Bays are grown in rigid mesh bags with an attached float that gently tumble the oysters as the tide rises and falls. This action chips off a small amount of the oyster’s shell, causing them to put energy into regrowth, resulting in an oyster with a strong shell and a deep cup.. These plump meaty oysters are slightly sweet with a mild brine finish.

Choose between a 36 or 60 count bag of Extra Small Earthquake Bays.
