Besides oysters, Hog Island also grows Manila clams, a small sweet clam that is good both raw and cooked. When developing this chowder recipe, co-founder John Finger gave the chef strict instructions to use only fresh clams — and no flour to thicken it. “Where I grew up, nobody puts flour in the chowder,” he said. The result is a fresh-tasting, creamy broth surrounding a mass of tiny sweet clams and is a staple at every Hog Island Oyster Bar.

A unique twist on the classic, our famous Hog Island rendition is rich yet light, with luscious bacon bits and plenty of clams in the shell – good enough to lick the bowl clean. This kit has everything you need for a 5-star chowder at home.
